The unintended expat blogger behind Bright House Market

Hello, I'm Pierre
As a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Paris, France.
A few years back, my family and I moved here. What began as a short-term assignment gradually opened a new chapter living overseas.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in our long-range plan. As with many expat relocations, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
The adjustment phase involved culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Bright House Market
Most information online leaned toward corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in France.
What This Site Is For (And What It Isn’t)
This site is about:
- Hands-on insights from residing in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site is NOT:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in France continues, and the learning journey goes on as well. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Pierre
